The episode Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai starts with a surprise to Abhira when Armaan brings in a new nanny for baby Pookie. The caretaker confidently offers that she has seven years of experience in taking care of children, but Abhira is obviously distressed. She asks Armaan why he hired someone without even speaking with her first. Armaan attempts to explain that he only did it in order to assist, thinking she was stressed out. But Abhira, being hurt and unsupported, insists that the caretaker leave.
Abhira accuses Armaan of not believing in her as his mother. She says to him it pains her to see him believe more in a stranger than in his wife. Armaan says he was only attempting to help her, but she isn’t convinced. She then urges him to go to work and says she will do everything by herself. Armaan is concerned Pookie may need him and is hesitant, but she assures him she is all right.
Later, Vidya attempts to soothe Abhira, telling her that Armaan did not intend to hurt her. But Abhira, upset, exits to clear her head. Kajal defends Armaan’s actions, stating he was just trying to assist. Manisha defends Abhira, and Kaveri intervenes, questioning Vidya’s sudden change in tone. She cautions Vidya against interfering in Armaan and Abhira’s marriage once more.
Trying to make amends, Abhira goes to talk to Armaan again in hopes of fixing things. But he dismisses her and turns his back. She yells out to him, but he doesn’t look back. Alone with Pookie, Abhira comforts her baby, telling her that Armaan isn’t really angry—just upset.
Shortly afterwards, Ruhi, Swarna, Surekha, and Manish travel to Abhira. Ruhi and Abhira promote a nice bonding session between Daksh and Pookie. Swarna senses that something’s amiss and notices the tension. Ruhi advises Abhira nicely to stand her ground with Armaan.
At the office, Armaan is unable to keep worrying about the baby. At home, Abhira is having some fun with Pookie, but things get horrific when the baby unexpectedly develops a fever. Abhira gets panicked and does everything to soothe her. Manisha, Kajal, Charu, and Kiara join her side, attempting to assist.
When Armaan is told about the fever, he goes into a rage. He yells at Abhira that she can’t take care of herself. He goes off and takes Pookie to Ruhi, telling her the baby may feel more comfortable with her than Abhira. That small statement shatters Abhira’s heart.
Kaveri intervenes and slaps Armaan. Angered, she informs him that he has crossed a line. She reminds him that even Ruhi had the decency to take a step back and let Abhira and Pookie spend some time together. Kaveri questions him about what he thinks he is to challenge Abhira’s motherhood.

Abhira is upset as Pookie’s fever persists. She dreads Armaan’s criticism further. With tears in her eyes, she informs him that while he is preoccupied with Pookie, he has not even remembered her. Kaveri advises Abhira that it could be the time to end the relationship with Armaan and make him realize her worth.
