The show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Haiopens with Kaveri standing firmly against Armaan, accusing him of being unfair to Abhira. She tells him that Abhira is going out of her way to look after Pookie and asks him how he can be so judgmental about her when he didn’t give birth to the child either. Kaveri brings to his notice that whereas Armaan is just learning to be a father, Abhira has already demonstrated herself to be a good mother.
She points out how Abhira has silently tolerated Armaan’s ire and emotional withdrawal. Forewarning him against taking Abhira for granted, Kaveri puts the baby in Pookie’s arms, reasserting her connection to the child. She reminds everyone that Abhira had also cared for Ruhi when she was pregnant. When Vidya tries to defend Armaan, Kaveri firmly cuts her off.
In spite of having a fever, Abhira still takes care of Pookie and attempts to make amends with Armaan. Later, he apologizes, stating that his possessiveness is because he loves. He declares his love, but Abhira does not utter a word, being too hurt to speak.
Later, Kaveri and Vidya see Abhira’s fever and are amazed that Armaan didn’t recognize it. They are in agony as Abhira tells them she feels like a failed mother to Armaan. Kaveri, angry, proposes that perhaps it’s time Abhira moved out—so Armaan will have to appreciate her worth. Vidya is amazed but Kaveri maintains that sometimes separation heals. She also encourages Vidya not to keep blindly defending Armaan.
Meanwhile, at the Goenka residence, preparations for a celebration are cut short when Charu shows up—invited by Abhir. Manish, Swarna, and Surekha are angry, denying Charu and Abhir’s relationship. Ruhi stands up for them, insisting that love should be understood. She reminds them that Sanjay also wronged them, and requests sympathy.
Meanwhile, back at home, Abhira begs Armaan not to allow Pookie to drive them apart. Armaan starts to realize, but when he discovers about Abhira’s fever, he resolves to keep the baby away from her and sends medicine instead. This severely hurts Abhira, who longed for closeness and solace. She cry as she feels completely isolated.
